Preserving History

The Rio Tinto thing with blowing up the Juukan Gorge caves to make a road to their mine got raised in parliament. Juukan Gorge was destroyed in 2020 and it was all perfectly legal. That doesn’t make it morally or ethically right. Preserving human history wherever and whenever possible is an important thing in theContinue reading “Preserving History”

Schoolkids

A first-grade teacher, Ms Brooks, was having trouble with one of her more precocious students. The teacher asked, ‘Harry,  what exactly is your problem?’ Harry answered, ‘I’m too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the 3rd grade and I’m smarter than she is!  I think I should be in the 3rd grade too!’   Ms.Brooks finally had enough. She tookContinue reading “Schoolkids”

Politicians explained

This pretty well sums up the MP’s of today. An elderly farmer was in the ER having stitches put in his hand due to an accident with a piece of machinery. The doctor carrying out the procedure struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the conversation got around to politicians and their roleContinue reading “Politicians explained”

A huge pain in the arse

This is one from way back in February 2022 in a Telarah Times article. For some people the need to be the best at something will drive them to great lengths to acquire this status. It’s when you combine this desire for excellence with two or more hobbies that problems can sometimes be encountered. ItContinue reading “A huge pain in the arse”

Don’t mess with old people

The IRS decided to audit Grandpa and summoned him to their office.  The IRS auditor was not surprised when Grandpa showed up with his attorney.  The auditor said, ‘Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, which you explain by saying that you win money gambling.  I’m not sure the IRS findsContinue reading “Don’t mess with old people”

The tale of Paddy and Bessie

A farmer named Paddy had a car accident. He was hit by a truck owned by the Eversweet Company. In court, the Eversweet Company’s hot-shot solicitor was questioning Paddy. ‘Didn’t you say to the police at the scene of the accident, ‘I’m fine?’ asked the solicitor. Paddy responded: ‘Well, I’ll tell you what happened. I’dContinue reading “The tale of Paddy and Bessie”

Romance isn’t dead

This is an interesting twist on how stuff works out. This “glamorous” lady was doing something naughty to her bloke as they were driving home from a night out, let’s just say it’s impolite to talk with your mouth full. It might have distracted him just a tad which caused him to crash. Yep, itContinue reading “Romance isn’t dead”

Time

Below is the opening to an essay I have been thinking about recently. It’s about time and how we waste time. I don’t know where this essay will go but for sure it will go into the great deaktop folder of my weird thoughts. “Once in a lifetime, twice in one day.” Is a lineContinue reading “Time”

    1. Thank you.
Even better is when we can agree to disagree. It makes things better. You have some interesting articles and points of view which provoke thought.

  2. The use of English language in Australia kind of revealed a huge part of everyday mystery to me. It’s exhilarating to think of your normal day as a widespread search for the real meaning behind the words said by these indviduals around you. Of course, their interests and behaviour can be interpreted, in order to predict the next words or their line of actions, but still, you might have it harder than me, since my mother-tongue does have a kink of providing a very clear system to narrow things down verbally. It’s useful for work, but horrible for the use of common-sense- knowledge, and simple deduction. That may be a point where all the human beings in all these countries think, act, and comprehend things differently, and even have gifts they all are just taking for granted, including me.
Would be great if these gifts could be identified to use them for our all well-being and development.

  3. I think your Covid things has potential but it does not quite hit the high points of the song choral. It still is a lot better than I could come up with for mocking the Powers that be.
